In December 2010, with a record number of audience votes, she became the absolute winner of the Czechoslovak talent show Talentmania, in which she won huge favour and recognition in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. She has been singing since the age of four and is undoubtedly an exceptional phenomenon on the contemporary music scene. The professional music public highlights above all her immense musical maturity, purity of intonation and refined voice, which is also why immediately after the competition she became one of the most sought-after young opera singers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

This seraphic emblem of elegance, cultivation and unassuming high achievement, announced the onset of her distressing illness – a moment frozen in time for her audience – on February 9th 2022
She published Osvobozena 2 in March, returned to the stage in April and May, underwent surgery on August 10th, and participated in a concert and further stage performances, including the premieres of The Bartered Bride and Sweeney Todd 2 at the turn of the year
On January 31st 2023 she posted an encouraging retrospective, and was interviewed in late February 2
She sang in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Rudolfinum on April 17th
She turned 25 on June 18th, played in West Side Story on the 20th and on the 24th married Vlastimil Burda
But the foul contagion, blindly indifferent to the celestial qualities of its victim, returned vengefully and hope dissipated
Patricia Burda Janeckova died on 1st October 2023. We who marvelled as she overcame the prohibitive improbability inherent in the attainment of teenage operatic accomplishment, and equally at her inexpressibly refined and feminine bearing, later but too soon were made unwilling witnesses as the obverse manifestation of the random hand of fateful chance – dealt down darkly upon our cherished diva, our reluctant bashful primadonna – unfolded inexorably and inscrutably, ignoring all entreaties to preserve the stellar songbird, to desist from shearing the blossoming talent in its bud, and instead wantonly summoned its unknowing recipient to her prescribed destiny, consigning us, her mystified and bereft devotees, to the senseless void of incomprehension†
The music, and Her resplendent magnetism, will never be extinguished.
